For every lifesaving donation, participants receive a coupon for a pint of Baskin Robbins ice cream and points as part of the "Gift of Life" donor loyalty program that may be redeemed for items through LifeStream's online store.
"We're more than just a blood bank; we're a partner in wellness with our community. We're offering health screening for everyone in the community," LifeStream spokesperson Mary Kay Plock said. "We recognize that we have to keep our donors healthy if they're to continue donating with us."
Minors as young as 16 years of age can donate as well, but must provide LifeStream with written parental consent. Parental consent forms are available at any donor center or community blood drive venue.

Prospective donors must be free of infections or illnesses, weigh at least 110 pounds and not be at risk for AIDS or hepatitis. There is very little discomfort associated with giving blood and the risk of contracting any illnesses is next to impossible.
LifeStream serves 42 medical facilities in Southern California, and receives more than 500 donations daily in order to support 175,000 transfusions annually.
