Summer is around the corner and for the county's Regional Parks it means getting ready for the swim season and increased visitation to the parks.
This expectation translates into job opportunities for county residents as the Regional Parks opens its search for lifeguards and other types of seasonal help. ![]() Waterslide at Lake Gregory Regional Park (Photo by Michael P. Neufeld.)
There are four parks with swim facilities that require lifeguards from beginner to senior levels of experience. Applicants must be at least sixteen years old and certified in lifeguarding, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid to qualify.
Lifeguard certification classes are available at the East Valley YMCA, City of Ontario Westwind Community Center, CSU San Bernardino and other local facilities. For a complete listing of organizations providing lifeguard certification classes, please contact the American Red Cross at (909) 888-1481 or your local chapter.
Applications for lifeguard positions may be found at the Regional Parks' administrative office at 777 East Rialto Avenue, San Bernardino or at Lake Gregory Regional Park, 24171 Lake Drive, Crestline; Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park, 800 North Archibald, Ontario; Glen Helen Regional Park, 2555 Glen Helen Parkway, Devore; and Yucaipa Regional Park, 33900 Oak Glen Road, Yucaipa.
In addition to lifeguard positions, the County's Regional Parks are seeking part-time seasonal assistance from May to September in a variety of areas such as cashiering, waterslide attendants, general park maintenance, clerical support and more. These positions are ideal for anyone seeking summer employment. Applications for these positions may also be obtained at the four regional parks or at the Regional Parks administrative office in San Bernardino.
