Original Story

Crestline, CA – At 8 a.m. Tuesday (July 1) the Bids for Kids Online Auction began accepting bids on a variety of items ranging from exotic vacation getaways to sports memorabilia to raise funds for the local programs and services offered by the Boys and Girls Club of the Mountain Communities.

"The success of the online action at http://www.mcbgcauction.cmarket.com depends on spreading the word to as many people as possible," Boys and Girls Club spokesperson Audella Cook told RIMOFTHEWORLD.NET. "As we progress through the auction that ends at 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, we remind everyone that every bid helps support the organization and its before and after school activities.

"One of the items up for bid," Cook stated, "is a fighter pilot for a day adventure available at several locations across the country. The package includes air-to-air combat for one, a 4-night stay at a Hyatt Hotel and round-trip coach airfare for two on American Airlines."

Cook explained that in addition to bidding on over 90 items in the auction catalog individuals and corporations may make a monetary contribution to the Boys and Girls Club's programs that serve children and families in the mountain communities.

"Another item in the auction catalog," Cook said, "is a Shaquille O'Neal autographed basketball. An opening bid of $476 is required to start the process of obtaining the basketball of the National Basketball Association superstar.

"It's really easy to register," Cook explained. "Just go to http://www.mcbgcauction.cmarket.com and click on the register button on to top right side just under our Bids for Kids banner. Please refer our site to your friends to help us help our children.

"Many of the items have a buy now option," Cook continued, "so individuals who don't want to wait until July 19 can purchase their item outright."

Cook noted that the online auction actually serves as a kickoff to the "Autumn Gala on the Lake" Bids for Kids Auction that will be staged Saturday, September 6 at the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa. State Senator Bob Dutton will be honored at the dinner and auction hosted by honorary chairperson baseball legend Jim "Mudcat" Grant.

For additional information call the Boys and Girls Club at (909) 338-9390.
