Big Bear Lake, CA – The 25th Annual National Night Out, a crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the Big Bear Sheriff's Station, will be held Tuesday (August 5) from 4 to 7 p.m. in the parking lot of the Big Bear Convention Center (42900 Big Bear Boulevard).

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

"This is a free event," according to Sheriff's Department spokesperson Tiffany Swantek, "jointly sponsored by the City of Big Bear Lake. Don't miss out on your opportunity to come and meet local law enforcement offices and fire personnel in a fun and entertaining atmosphere.

"A bounce house, face painting and activities will entertain kids," Swantek continued, "while parents gather information on programs and resources from local service providers throughout Big Bear Valley.

"Additionally, the Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties will be present for a community blood drive," Swantek added. "Antique cars, race cars and choppers will on display and live broadcasting will be provided by KBHR Radio."

The Blood Mobile is scheduled to be on site from 3 to 8 p.m.

Swantek explained that burgers, pizza and other food items will be available for purchase at the National Night Out event.

"All Big Bear Valley residents," Swantek emphasized, "are encouraged to bring the entire family out for this festive evening."
