Over the past several years, The Narrows has been closed several times due to major damage caused by severe storms. This includes five major washouts from the Christmas 2003 storms that forced Caltrans to close the roadway for several months.
During that closure, traffic was diverted through Crestline, causing an impact on local businesses, and creating traffic hazards for residents who have to back onto Crest Forest Drive to exit their driveways.

Caltrans reminds motorists to "Slow For the Cone Zone."
