Update – Saturday, 3:55 a.m. The Green Team Arrowhead Earth Day Celebration, at Rim High School today (April 18), will allow organizations and businesses to reach out to the mountain communities with their messages regarding sustainability.
Organizers—including the Rim High School Science Club—invite local residents to participate, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. When you do, you will enjoy: entertainment, food, informative films, guest speakers, raffle prizes. There will also be numerous booths, offering information on everything from water conservation to renewable energy, and recycling to sustainable communities.
Water Charity submitted the very first booth application for Earth Day on the Mountain. Averill Strasser, COO of the non-profit corporation that does water, sanitation, and health education projects around the world, urges mountain residents to clean out their medicine cabinets, and bring their old medications to the event.

"We, in turn," Strasser explained in his booth registration form, "will collect and dispose of them as hazardous waste, according to the proper protocol."
Strasser explained that flushing unused hormones, sedatives, or antibiotics down the toilet means they eventually wind up in drinking water. "If you put them in the garbage," Strasser emphasized, "they wind up in the landfill, and find they way into the ground water."
Earth Day on the Mountain is an event for the entire family, with plenty of entertainment by the likes of Wake the Bard and Senara (in the gymnasium), and Moondaddies and Nothing Matters with Reggie Bannister.
Don't miss this opportunity to participate in Earth Day on the Mountain.
