MARTA Budget Set for Adoption July 21
Board Meeting Slated for Crestline
By Michael P. Neufeld
Monday, July 21, 2008
Crestline, CA — The review and comment period on the 2008-09 Mountain Area Regional Transit Authority (MARTA), is almost complete with final approval due July 21.
The MARTA Board of Directors will meet at 1 p.m. Monday at the Crestline office at 621 Forest Shade Road to adopt the proposed operating budget of $2,694,976. This amount represents an increase of approximately eight percent over the previous fiscal year mainly due to increased fuel costs.

MARTA's budget is financed primarily from Local Transit Funds (LTF) allocated by SANBAG to San Bernardino County and the City of Big Bear Lake. Other financing sources of MARTA include passenger fares, federal funds and Measure I funds.

PUBLIC HEARINGS
MARTA will conduct two public hearings in August to discuss route and schedule changes and proposed fare increases. The public is invited to attend and offer input to these discussions.
The first hearing will be Monday, August 11 at 1 p.m. at MARTA's Crestline office (621 Forest Shade Road).
The second public meeting will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 18 at the City of Big Bear Lake Training Room (39707 Big Bear Boulevard).
