Arlington Fires Near Sugarloaf Knocked Down (Update)By Michael P. Neufeld Update - Wednesday 4:05 p.m. Sugarloaf, CA – Two small fires near Sugarloaf have been knocked down quickly by firefighters supported by helicopters, helitankers, and fixed wing aircraft. One of the Arlington Fires was apparently caused by a vehicle fire and spread to nearby brush. The second fire has been controlled according to the CHP CAD log.
The exact acreage is not known at this time but both are believed to be small, according to scanner reports.
Original Story Big Bear area - Multiple sightings of smoke the Big Bear area has firefighters and air support heading to the area due west of the Lake Williams residential area.
Two large columns of smoke were initially spotted prompting aerial crews at San Bernardino International Airport to start their response while ground crews moved into place.

One fire is reported near forest service road 2N27 (Sand Canyon Road) and the other in proximity of 2N93 (Wildhorse Meadows Road).
Aerial support from the Heaps Peak Heliport is also on scene.
Map is approximate and depicts intersection of Forest Service Roads 2N27 and 2N93. Eyewitness reports indicate the fire may be west of this location - possible the extreme south end of Maple Lane in Sugarloaf.
