Running Springs Fire Leaves Family In Need (Update)

Mountain Helping Hands Coordinates Assistance

Update - Wednesday 4:20 p.m.

Running Springs, CA – This morning's structure fire in the 31000 block of Silver Spruce in Running Springs left a single mother and her four children in immediate need of several items. Dixi Willemse of the Running Springs Fire Department and Mountain Helping Hands provided the following information to one of RIMOFTHEWORLD.net's scanner transcribers.

New items only please. If people have used items, Dixi will start a list and contact the mother to see if she wants or needs them - such as furniture or other larger items. Dixi may be contacted at (909) 867-2630 or (909) 867-9317.

Clothing items:

  • 4 year old boy - size 5 pants and size 7 shirts
  • 8 year old girl - size 8 clothes
  • 10 year old girl - size 12 pants and size 14 shirts
  • 12 year old boy - size 12 pants and size 14 shirts
  • Mom - size 10 pants and medium shirts

Toys:

  • 4 year old boy - Barnyard toys, Dora, Diego, cars, trucks – typical boy
  • 8 and 10 year old girls - Very "girlie girls" - hair stuff, dolls, Barbies, Hannah Montana stuff, texting diary
  • 12 year old boy - Chess game, he lost both a violin and a guitar, likes baseball

Household items:

  • Kitchen items - pots and pans, dishes, small appliances, dishtowels – likes emerald green and white for colors
  • Towels - Likes emerald green and blue
  • Blankets
  • Toiletries - shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, hairbrushes, etc.

Items may be dropped off at the Running Springs Fire Department at 31250 Hilltop Boulevard. Please contact Dixi at (909) 867-2630 or (909) 867-9317 to schedule a drop off time.

Entertaining Angels Unaware at 23795 Lake Drive, Crestline, is also accepting donated items.

Running Springs, CA — An early morning fire consumed a home in the 31000 block of Silver Spruce in Running Springs.

Emergency personnel from Running Springs Fire Department, Arrowbear Lake Fire Department, County Fire engines from Green Valley Lake and Lake Arrowhead, as well as Crest Forest Fire District and the US Forest Service responded to the fire that began around 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The fire was reportedly knocked down at approximately 6:45 a.m. and had burned a 10 foot by 10 foot spot of vegetation.

Highway 18 was closed for a short time while firefighters utilized a hydrant across the highway.

The American Red Cross has been asked to respond to assist the family.
