A Late Season Storm System To Move Across Southwest California Wednesday And Thursday

A developing low pressure system, currently located about 1000 miles offshore, is forecast to track due east across Southern California Wednesday through Thursday.
High clouds are already beginning to increase over the region and by this afternoon southwest winds will be increasing. Clouds and winds will continue to increase tonight through Wednesday. Rain is expected to begin late Wednesday afternoon over southwest San Bernardino and Orange County by Wednesday evening over western Riverside County and San Diego county. The snow level will be lowering to around 6,000 feet Wednesday night as the cold core system tracks directly across the area. There is also a threat of thunderstorms late Wednesday night. The heaviest precipitation amounts are expected along the west to east aligned San Gabriel and San Bernardino Mountains. Showers are likely to linger into Thursday. A return of warm and dry weather is expected Friday and through the weekend.
Anticipated rainfall accumulations are as follows:
| Coastal and Valley Areas | 0.25 to 0.50 inches |
| San Bernardino Mountains | 0.75 to 1.70 inches |
| Other Mountains | 0.50 to 1.00 inches |
| Apple and Lucerne Valleys | 0.10 to 0.25 inches |
| Lower Deserts | 0.03 to 0.10 inches |
Anticipated snowfall amounts are as follows:
| San Bernardino Mountains | |
| 6000 To 8000 Feet Elevations | 6 to 10 inches |
| Above 8000 Feet Elevation | 10 to 12 inches |
| Riverside County Mountains | |
| 6000 to 8000 Feet Elevations | 1 to 3 inches |
| above 8000 Feet Elevation | 3 to 6 inches |
| San Diego County Mountains | |
| Above 6000 Feet | Trace to 1 inch |
