Unsettled Weather To Bring Winds Then Showers
By Scott Straley
Tuesday, May 20, 2008
A developing late season storm system will bring windy weather this afternoon through Wednesday with gradually increasing humidity and cloud cover. Showers and thunderstorms may develop Thursday into Friday along with fog along the coastal slopes.
Initially, the air will be quite dry, with very low humidities. The increase of upslope winds this afternoon and evening has prompted Red Flag Warnings to be issued. Fire weather conditions, however, should be short-lived as humidities increase later this week.
The exact location of the developing storm system will determine how much, if any, rain falls. Much cooler weather will likely continue through the holiday weekend with periods of showers and fog and drizzle along the coastal slopes.
Travelers should be prepared for changing weather conditions, gusty winds, decreasing temperatures, and the possibility of thunderstorms.
