I will "simmer" when these threads become few!
Thank you to Doggie Styles of Crestline that supply info on low cost or no cost spay and neuter clinics. There is NO EXCUSE for all these unwanted pets. NO EXCUSE! I will keep bumping these threads to remind people of their responsibilities. You all can help "bump" too if you love pets!

My new older dog will be neutered soon and the rest of my animal family has already been done. My love for them is great. They were unwanted pets and could have been pts had fate, as we experienced it, hadn't led us to the shelter. A sad vision that someone may not take them home and they would at some point, have to be put to sleep. Pet overpopulation is not being met with everyone in the world giving them a home. There are many families in the world who do not want or need a dog or a cat in their life, but the new lives keep comming in addition to the ones already needing homes. we are charged to be the overseers of the animals especially to the ones in our care. I would not try and decide after the fact of new litter. I choose to eliminate adding to the over population by getting all my animals fixed. Please spay or neuter.

lp92325,
Thank you for that story.... you always take a chance on these sites of getting beat up for posting things that make others uncomfortable... my heart is trying to be in the right place. If I can reach one person to do the right thing by their pet, it will be worth if for me. I will keep bumping these posts to remind people of how important and easy it is to love your pets.

Don't forget that Spay/Neuter also keeps your pets from getting some forms of cancer. I know I wasn't aware of that and when the vet told me, it was the deciding factor. I never thought of neutering before, as my Kib was never out without me and mostly in the house. I was not worried about procreation at all.
But the thought of Cancer really got to me. I love my doxies.

Just have been thinking about Crestline having it's own animal shelter, one with the facilities to house stray animals. gain the support of the people in our communities with their skills and knowledge to help become a no kill shelter volunteer,I see plenty of our young people who may turn an interest into a career someday, include them too. Someone who knows how to cut through the red tape. A realter that know of someone that will donate the land. A plan to have a vet and their students provide vaccines and medical care as a part of the teaching and learning experience.

Just as quickly as I applied for a spay/neuter voucher over the phone, I received the voucher in the mail a few days later. It is very easy to do and to get done so the shelters will not be getting any accidental doggies from my home. lol

Odifit: Yes, you do take a chance when you post, however what you are saying needs to be brought forth, it is important. I know your heart is in the right place, so if you gotta rock the boat a little to remind pet owners, you just rock-on. Rock-on, rock-on.

Oh, yes. I got mine for the kittens SO FAST.
I also used them a couple years ago to get my 2 adult cats fixed PLUS my dog!
Then I found the cat in the Walmart parking lot. She gave birth to 7 kittens. I have 3 vouchers ready to go for mama cat and two kittens. They will only give 3 vouchers at a time, but, that's okay! They have helped me so much and it's SO EASY to get them.
The wonderful extra benefit is to license my dog now is like $16 instead of $60 because she is fixed!

Thank you odyfit for voicing your opinion. I agree totally. I do know that the word about spay and neutering has actually been helping, but we do have a long way to go. Hopefully in the next few generations, the problem will be close to non-existant. Wouldn't that be nice.

Its great that we have the popco program as well as other orgs that offer assistance in spaying and neutering. I think it is important to add that these programs are there for people who otherwise cannot afford to spay/neuter their pet or are helping with strays or similar situations. Too many people take advantage of these programs because they are easy and rely on the honesty policy. I have seen people that go buy a new puppy and then have it paid for through assistance programs. I don't know why anyone would think that is okay.
Please use them only if you really need them.

That would be GREAT Rhondalee. I came up with these threads to read as a statement... Just planting little seeds.
