I think the real advantage to a float tube is that you can get right into areas where Bass are hiding, that you can't get into easily with a boat. On Lake Arrowhead, that means getting in around docks where those smallmouth are hiding.

4Paws,

HAHA....I forgot to paint the flames on my tube. I do have that lame 20" x 20" white flag that ALA makes you fly so maybe I can add a few flames to that. That darn flag is always getting in the way so I usually just lay it down and wait for them to ask about it.

The tube definitely gets you in the spots that the boats can't get too. I have squeezed in between some tight docks and scored some nice fish.

Yea, I beleive the white flag really is just a form of surinder to the fish when you have a bad day. While in the boat, I have had a few too many yahoos, just ignore my white flag and run over my lines anyway. It does seem kind of ridiculos to have the white flag while in a float tube to show that you are fishing. What else would you be doing in a float tube, pulling a water skier or something?

I live in RS. Is it legal for me to float tube on LA? If not, do they usually come by and check to see if you are a resident?

You need to be an ALA member, a family member or guest of an ALA member. They do check at the beach clubs and launch ramp for membership.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the info on float tubes. Most of them look like you have to have your feet in the water all the time, which isn't a bad thing on a hot day. But...I saw one that you could stand up in, and lean over a bar to cast. It even had a place to put a small trolling motor on the back. I link that idea. Lazy.

Overhill,

The ALA lake patrol can stop by and check you as well. I have been carded being on the shore and in my tube. I believe it's considered trespassing (potential fine) if you can't produce a card or valid # that can be verified.

Thanks everybody! Beetween GVL being $15 a day to fish, LA being private, that knocks out half the lakes up here. Arrowbear is shrinking by the minute, and BB is to far of a drive to fish for an hour or 2. I guess i need to buy one of these cheap lots somewhere to be able to fish where i want to! Oh well!
