Yes it's true. I haven't hiked it yet. You will want to do a shuttle to do it though. Park one car at the bottom then drive up and hike top down. The trail starts almost at the top where the road Y's. It's on the right of the Y. It's called the Exploration Trail I believe. It's bike friendly so watch out!
