Twice in one week we have had someone try to start fires at the bottom of the hill. They have been multiple starts and they are both "under investigation." Either someone is determined to start a conflagration now or perhaps is practicing for later this season. Whatever the reason, we MUST pay more attention to our surroundings and I'm not opposed to civilians forming some kind of watch group during the worst part of the fire season. What do you think?

I think it is a great idea, we all need to be very aware of our surroundings, and if anything looks suspicious, call...because it is better to be safe than sorry.

Is there a pattern to this activity? Are the fires being started in the same area? Are they on certain days and times? If so , this area could be easily watched. Hopefully whoever is doing this will be caught and we can all beat the #@$%#%^%^%#@!!! out of them!

I don't want to be Chicken Little and cry the sky is falling, but...we really do have to be on watch for things out of the ordinary. If everyone of us keeps an eye out, we may be able to ward off a disastrous fire.

It doesn't help matters, either, when we never get a follow-up to the original story. It would save a few of us some ulcers if the parties that post the original "Breaking News" story would give us the follow-up, even if it is a few days later.

I'm too old and too pooped to put together something on a formal basis, but I am more than happy to sit in a turnout with some binoculars to scope out the sitch on those red flag days (on the weekend). It seems to me that we could cover most of the main roads with a relatively small number of volunteers.
