I'm trying to help an Akita rescue ( A Passion for Paws )located in San Diego, pull a male Akita from Devore Shelter. He needs to be taken from Devore Shelter to a temporary kennel located in Rowland Heights, this Saturday. He is available for adoption that day, but he will most likely be put down unless someone can go and get him. If you can transport this boy, ID Number A382448, from Devore to Rowland Heights this Saturday, please email me at LLknorr@msn.com. Thank you!!

The person that runs the rescue is low on resources right now, she's in Texas helping with her dying mother

Bunny, where's Rowland Heights?
Can't promise anything, but I may be able to (especially if it's not too far. We're still in the process of moving). I'll keep you posted.

I think it's near La Habra..

I'm going to have to find out asap who can do it.. I didn't know that Devore is a HUGE pain in the butt about who transports for rescues! The woman that runs the rescue has to send this person's name on her rescue letterhead, signed by her to add someone to her existing transporters.. so dumb. They only have 4 people listed for transporters for this rescue, and they wouldn't even tell me who those people were.. anyway, I'm sure it's not anyone I know.

They are making it very difficult to get this dog out of there. The woman ( Cheryl ) that runs the Akita rescue is in Texas with her dying mother..

I'll keep you posted! Thanks, DD!

Oh good grief!! Bunny, give the lady my name to put on the letterhead as transporter.

WOW! I never knew that Devore was so bad! I've rescued a dog from there before (over a year ago, admittedly), but I didn't even have to show ID or anything!
I can let you know tonight Bunny, if I can do it.

Thanks, Ladies! Our wonderful mountain resident and dog rescuer, Dieseldave is wanting to help, he sent me his info and everything. It's just a matter of someone who helps Cheryl getting that piece of paper, adding Dave's name to the list and either faxing it to me or Devore. I'm going to do my best, luckily, the dog isn't available until Saturday, so we may have time to get this done. Otherwise, Cheryl is pretty sure they will put the dog down.

Poor lady has enough to worry about... I was so pissed at Devore this morning, I wanted to scream at them.

Alright Dave!!!!
What paper? Now doesn't the rescue just need to ad his name to the rescue's transport list? Or am I confused?
And there's time Bunny! Think POSITIVE!!!!

No, they need Cheryl to send them his name on her letterhead, and it needs her signature.. She or I can't just call them to add his name.. it has to be in writing.. I was told that they have very specific guidelines to follow. I was lucky that she was registered with them! Otherwise, she would've had to fill out an application to pull dogs from there. Even when I told them I had all of her rescue info, tax ID number, everything from SB shelter when she rescued a dog a year ago, it didn't matter. As I said before, she's in Texas with her mother who is dying, so she doesn't have all of this on her computer with her or anything.. It's up to any of her friends or volunteers to get this info to me, I'm willing to do everything else to get him out of there. So far tonight, I haven't heard from anyone.

Cheryl is an amazing lady! You will have to hear her story sometime.. she's been through unbelievable circumstances in her life, and I'm just in awe of what she's done for so many dogs.

I hope someone she knows can help. If I don't hear from anyone tomorrow, I'm going to try and call her.. although I haven't wanted to bother her on her cell while she's going through all of this.

Everything is set to go... I've received all the info I needed for the shelter and the kennel is aware he's coming.

Dave is very reliable and he's rescued a couple of dogs from SB! He's a great guy!

I think he's about 3 years old, but he won't be available for adoption until he's neutered and has a health check.

The rescue that has him does primarily Akita rescue, here is their website:
