Sorry for confuzzlement, Peg ... for shorthand, I call all government handouts that are based on some selection like age or income, as opposed to contribution, "welfare." Neither negativity nor positivity attached to the term.

Has anyone gotten a paper check yet? My friend is getting a paper check, with a low ss#, and her letter said she should get it no later than today. I never got a letter. We are paper check also, but with 46 the last numbers.

I called the IRS about the problem I had (earlier discussed on this thread). I was surprised! It only took me 15 minute total. I got through and had my questions answered, all within 15 min. We're supposed to have our Stimulus Payment (paper Check) sent out in the mail on may 23. If they are going by my husband's SS#, that would be in the teens. I expect to have it the first week of June. WoooWhoooo

P.S. for those of you wondering about my problem, the other half is to be mailed out today. Double WooooWhoooo

Ah, ok, Lynne. Thanks for the explanation. I was tripping... Welfare is a touchy subject for me. Sorry about that...

BTW, I did find out that Nathen doesn't have to file because he made under $3500. He just doesn't get back the taxes he paid in. Not even worth doing it.

But if he files, then he will get the rebate as I understand it.

Just got an email from Turbo tax who I filed with, thought you all might be intrested, especially if you used them too:

Dear Valued Customer,

We want to provide you with the most up–to–date information about the tax rebate to which you may be entitled.

Recently, you may have received a letter from the IRS advising you when to expect your Economic Stimulus Payment (rebate). That IRS letter may have inadvertently left off some important information. Taxpayers who chose to have their tax preparation fees deducted from their federal tax refund will receive their tax rebate in the mail, not via direct deposit.

Our records show that you chose this payment option in TurboTax. As a result, the IRS has determined that you will receive your tax rebate in the mail. This may result in you receiving your rebate on a date later than expected.

This situation, while not unique to TurboTax, is understandably causing some concern and confusion. To help further clarify the situation, below is the most current IRS rebate payment processing schedule, as well as additional resources about the tax rebates.

Mine is on July 11th. It figures.....I realize now that my preparer did this deduction and used TurboTax.

I will be one of the last to get my check so I just went out and spent it today anyway at Stater Brothers! When the check comes in I can spend it again. I am all for good economy!

I was stumulated today.

If you do not receive a letter from IRS does this mean you will not receive a stimulus check?

Thank you Errant. This states that ours was direct deposit May 16, but we never received a letter from IRS, stating that we would receive one. Is it the mail service?

Received NO letter but did get a direct deposit on 5/16 as well

No check here yet! Well, I guess because it's not coming as I owe I owe I owe it's off to prison I go. WAIT, 3 square meals a day, a roof over my head, active social scene, this might not be to bad! Won't have to file a tax return next year. I won't have to worry if gas is 4,5,6 dollars, I won't have to commute. I hear they are trying to improve the health benefits of prisoners! I'm going to start training now by playing more racquetball with CoreyVOE and lifting weights so I can have a bitch rather than be someone's.
