red paint, he said it was paint, more of a burgundy shade of red.

So he just can't be a DR in my eyes as they make decent enough of money, that they could afford a car to get to work. And he just looks frazzled. I saw him and laughed at my own story of some psycho doctor Stephen King-esque scenario (yet with humor too..) playing in my head. But yes, I do want to know his story, but not enough to pick him up. I don't talk to strangers!

hmm...unless he is in intern, I don't think they make much at all.

My brother was driving down a desert road in the middle of the night. He was pretty tired when he saw a guy wearing a long white robe hitchhiking. He thought he was an old hippy so he stopped to pick him up. After passing him and stopping he waited for him to get in but he never did so my brother got out to see what was taking him so long and the guy was gone and apparently never really there. My brother was completely freaked out and to this day won't drive long distances at night any more.

Same guy is waiting about 5:45 in the morning hitching to go down the hill at Crest Forest & 138. I feel bad, but a woman alone NEVER picks up a hitcher. I guess Marta isn't an option for him?

The guy is smart, evidently he is getting to and from work every day for free.

I just hope I'm not the first surgery he's doing in the morning... I will take out my own appendix, thank you...But I can offer you a ride home.

From: allquietnowSent: Wednesday, May 14, 2008 06:42 PMI gave him a ride once. Very nice man. I think he said he works at the veterans hospital. He is not a doctor but he works in the lab there. He was harmless and just trying to get to and from work..

when i was a teenager my stepfather had his own busines - a janitorial business - he had a really nice man working for him - he picked up a hitchiker and he was killed. I have never picked any person up - you never know - he killed him and took his car. i have never forgotten this and this was 35 years ago.

Kittygirl, I couldn't agree more.

But this guy seems harmless and maybe someone going that way might set up a carpool with him. Maybe share some costs? Maybe not to worry how he is going to get home every night might be cool?

DH picks up hitch hikers a lot. Not when I am with him though. It drives me nuts but so far he has had really good experiences and often will go out of his way to take there where they need to be. DH is a big guy and not afraid of much.

That's why I never pick up HH's. I can't just leave them on the side of the road after I've taken possession of them! It just would be nice if he found a permanent ride. There also was a nurse looking gal earlier this year that I saw hitching in Rim Forest a few times.

I used to pick up hitchhikers alot- especially in Santa Fe, NM- you have alot of "travelers" out there... I caught a ride myself a few times.. maybe I was just younger and more naive, but Im not as comfortable with it around here. I still pick up females, unless they look really scary...
Would be nice if this man could get a permanent ride- for his own safety.

He lives in the Cedar Glen area.

There is something so awful about sitting there with at least four extra places in your car and passing people up who need a ride. I have picked somebody up maybe twice but it isn't smart for a woman to do so I don't usually.
