Have you folks ever tried Arturo's. It is on 18 at Kuffel. Hidden away in Skyforest.

No ambiance, but very good and authentic mexican food.

Reminds me of the little places in L.A.

Deep Creek uses Peruan beans with lard. That's not real Mexican food. Real Mexican food has Pinto beans with "lard". Also, is there a website for the malt shop in GVL?

Peruano Beans
This is a pale yellow bean, medium size and originated in Mexico. Stays slightly firm after being fully cooked. Absorbs flavors well and is a slightly sweet and creamy bean.

These? Kinda like em'! & Their Salsa will pretty much catch your face on fire!

Green Valley Lake Malt Shoppe is excellent for dinner! Wish I could afford to go more often....Excellent meat, chicken, fish dinners, quality rarely seen elsewhere.

Has anyone tried Falsetti's in Lake Arrowhead Village. I had the best filet minon, that I had in years. I will also have to try Green Valley and compare.

GVL is probably $5-$10 less, and excellent. Falsetti's has high rent to contend with...But now I'm curious. I'll have to go to Falsetti's....Can I sing for my supper? That is, in a Falsetto voice?

Being that some people felt the need to advertise for restaurants from GVL to Crestline even though this is a Restaurants in Running Springs thread I feel the need to give shout outs to a few places I've visited the past couple of days.
Joe's Crab Shack in Ontario, had a late lunch/early dinner there the other night and it was awesome to say the least. Also I would like to mention Nicolino's Italian Restaurant in Cathedral City... had the greatest veal parmigiana I've ever had in a long time there yesterday. And the Mexican cuisine at Las Fuentes I believe the name is, in Yucaipa, was an excellent choice for dinner tonight. I'm still full and we had eaten about five hours ago.

GVL Malt shop - what are your hours? Everytime I go past you're closed

They're open from 10:00am til 2:00pm, Wednesday through Sundays, and also open Friday, Saturday and Sunday for dinner at 5:00pm til 9:00pm (til 8:30pm Sundays).

Since we are talking about restaurants in Running Springs, we simply added Arrowbear and GVL. We're all kind of one community in many ways. We all share 867- phone numbers, too.

The comment about Tony's in Crestline is the only one that's way off geographically.

Sky..

I made homemade tortilla soup from the ground up yesterday. No one can touch it ! It's easy and healthy. To die for, maybe I'll sell it to the restaurants. Hehe

Still want a good Chinese restaurant in or near Running Springs. At least as good as Mandarin Garden, but maybe less gristle in the pork.....

We go out on the average of about two/three times a week and here are our favorites.

We like the coffee shop in RS but we always have to look in and see if they're busy - wish they had more tables. They have good food and good service. Sometimes they have a prime rib special for a really reasonable price on the weekends. We've hit that once or twice, along with breakfasts and lunches.

We also like Deep Creek - consistent good food and service. The guy who occasionally waits is a crack up! Funny!

We went to the Bus Stop several times before they closed, and found their food great, but never really knew when they would be open so we went elsewhere.

The Golden Grille is good but the menu is so-so. The food and service is good.

We've gone to both Mexican places in RS once but haven't been back to either. We also went to Neo's Pizza and won't be back.

We have gone about four times to Rock n Roll Sushi in Lake Arrowhead. I don't like sushi (he does) but they have a terriaki (ms) bowl that is good that I order.

We like Rocky's in Sky Forest and have gone there quite a few times, and have gone to Arturo's once, and also the Italian place down the road once.

We just recently went to the Green Valley Malt Shop on a Sunday afternoon and we weren't very happy with our meal. Sorry! I read all the previous comments. We had to wait too long, the waitress, while very competent, was not friendly, and our food was burnt. Not going back. We liked the town though...there were lots of people strolling around the main drive and it looks like a nice little town in which to live.

The other Malt Shop in Cedar Glen has our business for sure. They are great! They hop to it and we've been extremely satisfied both with their food and their service. Once again, though, a small place with limited parking.

We will NEVER go back to The Borderline in BJ. We are 55 and ordered off the senior menu and it was pathetic! We have never ordered as seniors before and we were shocked at what we received!

I come from Omaha and we had so many Chinese restaurants that were so good. And so varied; I love brown sauce with my almond chicken and each restaurant had their own specialty. I agree! We NEED a good Chinese restaurant! Hey! The old Starbucks in LA is for lease! Let's get someone in there!

We have not been to Mandarin Garden in Aqua Fria. Good? And what are their hours? We drive by and it's like....oh, we just passed it, were they open? And do you park in front?

Mandarin Garden is good. It's not gourmet, not a P.F. Chang's by any means. Charlie is a nice host. But the pork dishes have been sub-standard the past year, lower quality pork? Who knows? But other things are good there. They're open every night, till at least 9:00pm, and later on weekends....I just wish we had a Chinese place in Running springs. Sorry about your experience at the Malt Shoppe in GVL. That's a rarity. I highly recommend the dinners, good prime rib, filet mignon, fish, etc. That's the time when they shine. Give them another chance. When I last went to the Cedar Glen Malt Shoppe, no one spoke English, I'm not kidding! But that was two years ago. We had 3 bad experiences in a row, but years ago we liked it.

I have lived in Running Springs for 14 years and I am a Manager at Joes!! I am surprised to see this from a fellow local and I appreciate it!! Its not a 'job' when you go to work and the main thing is to make people enjoy themselves. We are in Rancho Cucamonga, southeast corner of Foothill and Day Creek, right across the street from Victoria Gardens. I work mostly evening shifts(when its the most fun)...if anyone stops by let me know.

Thanks for the info, Photog. We'll try Mandarin Gardens, and based upon your recommendations, we'll give GVL Malt Shop another try. With all the good comments posted here, I guess we just went on an off day.
CG Malt Shop's staff is okay on English now. I haven't had any issues with them on that. And, believe you me, I have refused to go to some stores (nurseries for one) if English is not spoken.
