...for Kari...

They wanted to fuse four levels, which would have left me pretty much immobile, but finally I found a wonderful surgeon from my approved list who is going to do a four-level laminectomy. In a laminectomy, the surgeon removes part of the lamina (bone) that covers the spinal cord, basically giving the spinal cord more room so it is not so compressed. The surgeon will also remove bone spurs which are pushing into my spinal cord. At one level, my spinal cord is being compressed to half the normal space, leaving me at great risk of paralysis if I fall, get in a car accident, or the like.

I have been waiting for surgery so long that it seems anti-climatic and I am not afraid of the surgery itself, but rather the results.

Thank you for your prayers.

Kari, good luck. I've been there and going back. It's truly a pandora's box once they open your spine.

Kari.... You are in my prayers........

If we can help you in any way..... please post. We can bring you and your family meals or help around your house while you recuperate and heal....

I had Cervical Spine surgery about 3 years ago..... I know how much meals or help around the house would be appreciated. We are all family and need to reach out to each other.... I pray you will allow all of us to help you now.

Right family?

With all of my Love, Blessings, and Prayers..... Carolyn

Testimony, I almost cried when I read your offers of help, but I am down the hill. Due to my not working for quite some time, we have had to sell our Crestline second home, and the escrow closes next week. I spent my last night in our beloved cabin last weekend. My husband will be moving whatever furniture doesn't sell this Friday and we will be leaving California in a few months.

Thank you for the kind offer--it touched me more than you know.
