Hey, i own Manic Man's in Running Springs and i'm an avid gamer. I'd like to organize a Halo LAN party at the shop if enough people are interested and we can get enough xbox's and tv's together.
anyone? anyone? hello?

I am pretty positive my husband would be interested in that... but he is presently at work and I can't get hold of him. I will tell him about it later.

Cool! I have no idea when. i would think some saturday. it just depends how long it takes to get everybody together and organized. i would think we need at least five people to make it interesting. that means we need five tvs and five xboxes.
i've never done this sort of thing before. what do we need? ethernet cable? we have internet at the shop, so we could go that way too.
thoughts?

Manicmans,
I've done it in the past with two Xboxs. If you have more than two Xboxs you will need a LAN switch (I have an extra one) and at least ethernet/CAT5 cable (I have a bunch) for each Xbox. You can also have 2 players per each console using split screen to save some room in your place. An example would be 6 players = 3 xboxs, 3 ethernet cables, 3 TVs and 1 four port switch. Would you be using Halo 1 or 2?
Anybody else in town Play World of Warcraft?

We linked four and had sixteen players before. It wasn't hard at all and it was a lot of fun. Either one or two is good for a lot of laughs...

i vote for halo 2. the split screen idea is a good one. we need tv's and xbox's. any volunteers? i can provide my xbox. i have a couple of routers we can use and some ethernet cable. but my tv's about 500 lbs. and i'd need a dump truck to move it.

If I have enough lead time I think I can get an Xbox and an LCD projector.

I was thinking the same thing Sabro..
I've got two XBOX's but only one copy of Halo haven't played the game since i finished the odyssey.
I have a pair of tv's sitting on the deck, not sure what kind of shape they're in as far as picture quality sat out there all winter but you're more than welcomed to them if you'd like them for the shop.

I have Halo 1 and 2, and xbox, and 3 controllers. My TV is a 50" LCD projection. Only weighs 40 lbs but she is my baby so stays home. I like Sabro's idea of a projector. That could be good for 4 people at least, if the lighting is right. Any idea when you guys wanna try and pull this off?

okay, everybody, this is happening. we're planning it for Saturday, June 17th. it will be a halo free-for-all tournament. we're hoping for 32 total players. there will be a successive of games with a final top three players picked. with a cash prize for the top player and complimentary prizes for second and third places.
but the main idea is just to have fun. we need some things to get this thing put together. first, players -- of course! also, we need xboxes, copies of halo 2, ethernet cables, hubs to tie everything together and tv's.
Michael O is working with me to organize the tournament. please contact him if you're interested in joining the tournament, or if you can donate any of things for the tournament please let us know.
Michael's info is: email: metel_head@hotmail.com, cell: 909-855-7954.
we are asking a $7 entry fee in order to fund the final first place cash prize. If you pay ahead of time, you're guaranteed a place in the tournament. you can drop off your entry fee at manic man's or with Michael. otherwise, it's first come first serve!
or feel freen to contact me at manicmans@gmail.com of at the shop at 909-867-2700.
Let's get this thing going!
