It always seems to work out so well during the winter when we have the Jam at the Elks every 3rd Sunday with all others in home venues. It's a regularly scheduled event. I think people are having problems, like Jim said, with having the event at the VFW two times in a row (albeit with July 4th in between). I enjoy both and I think most people do. But, once a month for the Elks/VFW is enough, at least for some of us.

John and Sally enjoy your trip! If it gets too hot, you can always hide out in the Mall of America, lot's of music there. When you get back contact me. I'd like to invite you guys over. Nice seeing you, John, at LG Coffee Company a few days ago.

I can come up with a thousand good causes for JAMs to be fundraisers for -- Nothing against the VFW or ELKS, or any other,,,, but the jams are jams for the people --- fundraisers are fundraisers --- Sunday jams and fundraisers are unrelated (except on an individual musician basis) --- should we dictate that all Sundays that have fundraisers for Animals, Greenpeace, Anti-war, Anti-Federal Reserve, pro-Peace, I volunteer at a FOOD MINISTRY where HUNGRY people are given FOOD as to not starve - should we dictate that the jam has to take place at the event??? __ I THINK NOT !!!!!!

Business and Fundraisers are one thing, getting together with family and friends, eating sharing and Living is a completely other thing. I suggest not trying to mix them (or restrict one because of the other).

Thank You MaryAnn ---

(on a personal note, since the food ministry is this Sun., I will go to the electric jam at the VFW because its easier for me)

Okay my turn to chime in. I'm thankful that there are options when it comes to jamming. As much as I love the intimacy of the house jams, the fellowship and all the great music I also love being able to let loose at the electric jams, embracing my inner rock star so to speak. I don't think we have to limit one or the other, in fact I plan on attending both this weekend. Marriane had a good point the other day by stating that she wants the jam at her house to start on time, thus allowing those who want to experience both jams the chance to do just that.
It's apples and oranges. I know some people don't feel comfortable at the electric jams because that's not their thing, and I'm sure there's an air of anxiety about splitting up the core of regular jammers and their admirers, but one upside is that when those of us who feel compeled to leave the acoustic for the electric jam it frees up more playing opportunities for those who choose to remain at the acoustic jam, because lets face it sometimes the acoustic jam is so popular, as well as it should be, that the individual jammers don't get many chances to play their songs.
So at the risk of repeating myself I say the more opportunites/choices to jam the better. There is an ungodly amount of gifted musicians on this here mountain. Let them play!

Thanks Jammers! That's what I'm talking about...options not competition!

I've been verrrrry, verrrry quiet since Bob jumped my arse & then we kissed & made up, with JACKIE'S approval I'm sure, but IMHO, the sunday jam will live on, it's taken on a life of it's own & will not go "away".

I like em all, so more the music the better! Hell, I sent an email to John Sebastian who lives outside Julian to come up & join the jammers... wouldn't that be cool???

PLay on!

xoxo
