I am wondering where I can find houses for rent in the Big Bear preferably and even the Arrowhead/Crestline area? All I can locate is short term vacation rentals. I am looking for a rental for a longer time frame 6 months to 1 year. Thanks!

You will find that prices range quite a bit in the mountains because there is such a variety. Square footage, fireplaces, usable outdoor space, views, parking, applicances, and the condition of the house usually affect the rental prices. You'll want to find out if the road is regularly plowed. If it isn't plowed regularly, you can contract with a plowing service (like JonnyB here on ROTW)

Many of the older cabins have little or no insulation and can have drafty old windows, so you can pay a lot in utilities to keep them warm during the winter. You should to ask the landlord what kind of insulation the house has. The "cheaper" rent house may not be lower cost in the long run.

Hi I am Kimmy and my husband and I are planning to move and we would like to move up there in the crestline area mostly in the V.O.E. area, we are looking for a 2br. place that we could rent the most we would like to keep the price range around $750 and no higher than maybe $850 we also have 2 pets a dog and cat but if we really have to we could give our cat away. We also have a 4 month old son so we really need the 2nd bedroom. My mom and sisters live up there most of you might know her, her name is cindy. Anyways, if anyone knows a place can you please let me know. My husband and I are hoping to get out of here and into a new place by the 1st if it's posible. We will be coming from san bernardino.
