What hope are you bringing to others other than not being silent about being gay?

Gay Christian have come to realize that God/Jesus has been there for them every step of the way? They have allowed other people and their own head get in the way of their relationship with Him?

So go forth?

God chose what is low and despised in the world, things that are not, to reduce to nothing things that are, so that no one might boast in the presence of God.

Because I knew that some readers would become offended or get bent out of shape with the conversation, I tried to approach the matter between two educated Christian men. Having been on this board long enough, I have seen people who are so called "open minded" turn into hate filled bigots themselves. So if that is your intent, please leave the thread. There is plenty of others topics RIM has to offer. My intent to was have an honest discussion about the subject because all the other approaches have not worked. Thier is nothing more pathetic in the eyes of the world then seeing Christians destroy one another and yet talk about how the world needs Jesus. What kind of Jesus are we selling to the world? A Jesus that turns a blind eye to evil and sin? poverty? perversion? corruption? child molestation? racism? Or a Jesus that brings justice, hope, love, forgiveness, life, etc...

God chooses the things that people hate, the people that others consider foolish, the things that people think are less than what they deserve... for His glory. What others throw away, He considers precious. What others consider important is inconsequential in the Eternal economy.

that's...quite the ego!

I think Scott knows best himself and his life journey best and in his own words...

In October 2006, after years of self-hatred and attempts to "cure" myself, I finally came to a place of reconciling my faith and orientation. It was a lifelong struggle and fear that accepting myself would be a deathblow to my faith. But, now, more than ever, I am fully committed to be uncompromisingly Christian, and unapologetically gay.

This afternoon, I'm headed to Fuller Theological Seminary, in Pasadena, as part of my next step in this journey. I'm going to a prospective student weekend. My hope is to begin taking classes in 2009, pursing either a Master of Divinity degree, or some equivalent. I think I have hope to offer. I think that I can be one of many voices helping to turn the tide of hatred from within the Church and helping alleviate the moral vacuum within the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender communities.

I think everyone matters to God. It took me so long to learn that I matter.

I believe that Scott does have hope to offer, not only to the world that is full of a wild variety of non-conformists, but to his understanding of the Sacred Divine. I hope that I may be enriched by his thoughts and actions....I know he has changed my life for the better just by creating this wee forum

It is back up again.
I think everyone matters to God. It took me so long to learn that I matter.

I thought about Scott today as I drove through Pasadena. I can see him reaching out to people that no one else on this side of the line of faith can even speak to. I can see him sharing from experience and pain and struggle that no one else can really understand to people only he can fully empathize with. I believe that there are great things ahead of him... that the entire reason for the depth of his struggle lay ahead of him. It sounds like a great foundation for a ministry.

Or is to open new doors so you can learn new ways to preach your lifestyle? Because at the end of the day, our lifestyles are secondary to preaching the gospel of Christ.

Would somebody please give me a definition of 'gay lifestyle'? How do you 'preach' it to anyone? What would you preach?

You mean...like me saying "Be like me...I gave birth to two sons and when they were high school, I adopted my daughter out of the OC foster care system". So the implication may be...After 2 Adopt Another?

That 'hetero' lifestyle?

I want everyone to pick me as their hetero spokesperson, because I know I speak for ALL of them.

sabro - You rock! Hopefully, even the dim witted can understand your explanation. It is no wonder you are an educator.
