But the reason for this was my wife still lives in LA during the week because of her job and she HAD to let me handle things, our stuff stayed in LA except for what I could bring up in my car when I went back and forth. I always have every agreement written and email is a great way to do this without shoving a piece of paper in the contractors face. So what I am saying is your points are well taken and when we extend the back of the house in the Spring I will review these again, I too was raised in NYC - Queens, Jackson Heights and have been here in CA for about thirty years.

I read a great post on ROTW in addressing a question about local per square ft. construction costs. The answer: don't forget to factor in an extra $10 per square foot to pay for the therapy after dealing with mountain contractors. LOL
