It would make the people on this mountain SICK to see the amount of trash that is down there. I don't know why the environmentalists are not more up in arms about this whole thing.
Sent: Friday, May 2, 2008 07:33 AM
Casey, you should see the Old Toll Road in Twin Peaks, it is disgusting,,,,,,,,,, people are using it as a dump, soooooooo sad . and I agree with you about all the trash down there too

Would those be the same people protesting mandatory trash pickup because they'd rather do it themselves? Would they have to be renters whose landlord has figured out a way to avoid the fee and the service?

No, Ron, they're the f**king moronic slobs who are down there shooting, starting fires on our mountain and dumping their trash including used targets, food wrappers, toilet paper, etc...while they're down there firing off their guns. They aren't taking it home with them.

well, seeing all this trash at both of these places, definitely says: There is no monitoring going on and I just saw 2 places, I can imagine, what I havent seen..........too bad

Paying a Forest Service person to patrol nonstop in a particular area like this: what $36,000 per year? Possibly preventing a wildfire: $ millions! I think it is cost effective to have people patrol grid areas. In the longrun, it will save billions. I think, anyway. I don't think we can prevent all fires, but they can be mitigated.

Designating it a paintball area would cost less. Paintballs don't cause fires.

I hope someone asked the man who is running for county supervisor against Hansberger, last night since I was unable to go, if elected, what changes he would bring to this serious situation.

It isn't a county issue but a federal one.

County sups don't have any say in when or if this area get shuts down?

You are unfamiliar with the subject of jurisdiction? Federal land, federal regulations and policies. The US National Forest Supervisor has control of what goes on in this area. State covers the rest. The county has no say in how federal or state lands are administered.

Just thinking about all this.........so early in the morning too........

Maybe if we took pics of these areas, sent them to the sun with a story, also the MtnNews, and Alpenhorne, and whatever other medias, even our districts officers.........we could get some kind of action......

trying to look at the solution

Sabro, I can tell that you really want a paintball range!

These are not the only illegal dumping grounds up here. Any traveler of our dirt roads has run across piles of demo debris, household trash and worse. There are many illegal dumpers getting paid to haul away your crap and they are not dumping legally or paying any of the required commercial fees. So those hiring this work should take some steps to ensure they aren't hiring scumbag polluters.
Sent: Monday, May 5, 2008 12:19 PM
RonCPP totally agree, it really was bad, I have never been on the old tole road before..........got their by accident.......need a gps, lol

too bad they cant just put up some kind of fencing, or barrier, not allowing, the everyday scumbags, in there but of course have it so it is accesible to emergency agencies

I know.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,there is NO FUNDING

I'll second the paintball range. I'll also make a point to
get over there to clean up a bit.
