I don't see how twiladawn need to apologize? Mafo sounds like a very nice person and loves her cats, but it sounded to me like October was at least a part time "out doors" cat also? Turns out to be just a misunderstanding?
Mafo - I'll watch for October (love the name by the way) and if I see her I'll get a picture (I'm a picture taking foul). Let you know.

Wow. Sorry to cause such a ruckus. Boomer thanks as always! And I guess if a cat takes off due to fires then comes home for a couple of weeks and takes off again you could say she was part indoor outdoor cat for a couple of times until she decided indoor life wasn't going to work. I believe that october was only staying around after the fires becuase I was pregnant and she was "taking care of me". Anyways. Please do take pictures. And I know after all these years outside and my efforts to get her in doesn't make me a bad person! If I schakled her in she would have bit off her leg. She is such a cutie cat and we paid some big bucks when she was a kitten. (She got hurt somehow while we were at work). Vet said is she your cat. And then asked if we like our cat. And proceeded to tell us how much it cost. She had torn her lip pretty bad and had it stiched up to plastic tube (this is why this hangs a bit). Since our other cat died and she left for good we have yet to get any more cats.maybe one day we will again but for now a dog and a hamster is good. until anoher person needs a home for a black cat in the middle of october.

So I guess the consensus is to keep all animals(wildlife included) in separate cages within a zoo. God forbid any of them escape and potentionally eat eachother!

So Sorry mafo! I actually caught a feral cat a few years ago & still have one of her babies 'Wolfie' is now 17 yrs old. That's how I captured her brought the babies in & she followed. I loved her, but lost HER in the old fires as we wer displaced & she escaped in Temecula, her name was 'Sour Puss' she looked angry all the time & always hissed @ us. She was spayed,so could've still survived on my friends 2 1/2 fenced acres, since she was feral @ one time, I hope so.

We had a cat like XOXO did,she was our cat and a neighbors cat. Goofy cat had 2 homes and we both accepted her as our cat.
Goofy animals those cats can be.
As for outdoor cats,if hunting is your issue put a bell on their collar, sure slowed down the neighbors cat on bird hunting.

The problem with putting a collar on a cat is that if/when they have to climb a tree, there is the possibility that the collar will get caught on a limb and trap/hang the cat. Collars are not recommended for cats that go outside.

They do make "break away" collars for cats.. just plan on replacing them fairly often
