I was looking at the Twin Peaks Sheriff's Station discussion thread on "meth". mtndeputy located a wesite in Montana on their fight against "meth". He observed some of the most graphic billboards he had ever seen and they were about meth addiction. They are part of a anti-meth program that you can see at: http://www.notevenonce.com/. Go to ads and then the print section. I caution you that some of them are really strong.
The wesite says it all. I went to the wesite and looked at the 30 second television ads and they send a powerful message.

We will never see adverts in Fawnskin or BB against Meth becuz this is a resort town..and they want to promote business..(even though..they are not business friendly) but Im here to tell you we have a meth dealer in our neighborhood..also on the main road through Fawnskin and all over BB..its known that these people are dealers and nothing gets done..before we moved here we would never have thought so much dope is around these beautiful mountains..

HEY THANKS SHERIFF'S DEPT!!!!!! THIS IS JUST WHAT WE NEED IN THE VALLEY. HAVING BEEN A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER FOR OVER 30 YEARS I CAN TELL YOU THAT INFORMATION IS THE BEST TOOL FOR ALL OF US AS RESIDENTS OF BB VALLEY TO LIVE BETTER, SAVER, MORE REWARDING LIFES. INFORMATION HELPS US TO CONDUCT PERSONAL AND NONPERSONAL DAILEY ACTIVITY IN A MORE CONSTRUCTIVE MANNER. AND WHO BETTER THAN THE SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE TO SUPPLY THAT INFORMATION. THANKS TO THE MEN AND WOMEN,BOTH SWORN AND AND NONSWRON MEMBERS OF THE SHERIFFS OFFICE.

I'll tell you another way to recognize the damage caused by "METH," and it much much closer than Montana.

Try having to learn to deal with one of your children on it.
It breaks your heart and makes you want to do bad things to the people who manufacture and distribute this poison...

Absolutley!!!!!!!!!! And not only your kids, but it breaks your heart to see people you don't even know screwed up on the stuff. It seems to me that if the courts can't handel the situation, and in most cases they don't, it should be open season on the manufactures and distributers of any illegal drugs. The problem in alot of cases is that the average citizen is afraid of the repercutions (spell) from the drug dealer if the citizen is ID'd. I say "screw the dealer", unless of course he can out run a .357 magnum, then obviously other measures must be employeed. But our society will continue to have a "drug problem", until the every day citizen says "STOP"!!!! and does what he or she knows is the right thing. You can't just ignore it thinking it'll go away. THAT AIN'T GONNA' HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are teenagers, 13-17, experimenting with meth. If I report it to the BB sheriffs can I depend on them to do something about it? It is so prevalent in Big Bear valley there needs to be a major law enforcement push against it. But then rumor has it that the 'finer' people at the top of the social scale are doing the 'white stuff',too. It seems that those of us who are not 'using' are in the minority.

Rest assured, we will do everything in our power to act upon any information given to us. It will not happen over night. We will do all we can to get this drug out of the hands of the children in this community. If you wish to provide information on criminal activity anonymously I encouraged you to do so by calling WE TIP at (800) 78-CRIME.

Thanks Deputy. Is that number for Lake Arrowhead as well? Are we anonymously tipping on the kids or the dealers? Let's be careful with our children up here. They are so precious.

If you differentiate between users and dealers to give a tip then you are helping the dealers. The prime concern should be to get the stuff out of the hands of the juveniles. Children have that built-in feeling that nothing can hurt them and cave in to the suggestions of their peers to experiment. The recent increase in home burglaries lends suspicion that young people are trying to fund their drug habits.

Trying to keep this forum in the menu at left so people know that it's here...

As someone who has contacted the SO about 'drug houses' or dealers in my area - and bbdeputy please correct me if I am wrong - the SBSO does follow up on all tips, but the more information you can provide them, the more helpful your tip is and the more likely they will persue it.

In the past they have taken basic information from me, but needed more information to actually follow up. What I have been told in the past is:

*Make notes, if you can, regarding the dates/times of any activity you witness. This is particularly important if there is a 'pattern' to the activity. Observe the activity for a week or more and keep concise notes.

*If possible, without alerting anyone to what you are doing, also note vehicle make/model involved, and a general physical description of the person(s) involved. Get vehicle license numbers if it is possible to do so. (A plate coming back to a known druggie is a real jackpot for them...)

These things are tremendously helpful to the deputies, and also gives your tip credibility. Obviously it is not practical or possible to always provide this information on an anonymous tip line. Be aware that you can report any activity by personally going to the Big Bear substation at Summit and the Boulevard, and asking to speak to a deputy. You can do this and still remain ANONYMOUS. Or, you can provide your name and location (again, credibility) and ask not to be identified, and they will honor this.

Of course, you can always call the business number and they will come out to your house and take a report, but many people do not do this because they don't want the sheriff's unit seen in front of their house; hence the alternate methods of reporting.

Thank you Maggie, your comment is absolutely correct. We will follow up on ALL tips we receive on the We-Tip line. As stated, you need to provide us with as much detailed information as possible.

On another note, I often go to the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station thread and look for information that could be passed on to the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station thread. The news cast is about a new drug called Salvia

Tonight (May 8th) on channel 7 during the 11pm news cast they will be doing a segment on the dangers of (currently legal drug) Salvia. Apparently it is becoming an increasing concern for law enforcement and parents.

This is what I found on the internet about Salvia.

Salvia Divinorum (Salvia) or Salvinorin A, street names Salvia, Divine Sage and Magic Mint is a legal, powerful natural hallucinogen marketed to and easily accessed by teens on the web and at times, health and spirituality stores. Health care and law enforcement officials described Salvia as an organic hallucinogen as potent as LSD. Users dispute the comparing of Salvia to LSD and insist that it is a mild, harmless perception and spirituality enhancer.
