On the Tuesday night meeting of the Cedar Pines Park Water Company the board could never keep any order and it was completely obvious that they have totally lost the trust of share holders.
One board member by the name of Ron came off as a pessimist. Any time a share holder came up with a solution toward moving into a positive direction Ron could only bring up reasons why it would not work. When that was countered by another share holder Ron would then talk in circles as though he was filibustering a congressional issue. Not once did he say any suggestions even had a chance at succeeding; his negativity is a recipe for failure. The first thing that needs to be done in order to move that company into the right direction is to get rid of the negativity within. Ron even referred to something someone said on Rim of the World by the name of "bo-peep", or something similar to that name, with a board member shouting out,
"This is not Rim of the World Ron!"
Not to take away from Rim chatters, but the validity of a post-on rimoftheworld.net, in a board meeting, is completely unprofessional.
I can certainly see the negativity leaking throughout all the cracks in this water company. People like this do nothing to help the team with positive reinforcement. With that type of negativity nobody will swim, they will remain stuck in the mud, sinking, as he will not allow forward movement.

How, and why, does this company hold meetings without notifying share holders?
With 721 share holders, approximately 40 attended-and the building was overcrowded! The water company depends on word of mouth to notify share holders. When asked why they were not notifying people of the meetings the board said, "Everyone knows that the meetings are the 3rd Thursday of every month."
They assume 721 members just know because that is when they have always had it. Do they just discount the opinions of any new share holders? Yes. It appears that way.

They just assume that they will not attend. Or perhaps the board would be to embarrassed for new share holders to see the inadequacy of this non successful company.

Perhaps some new blood would be refreshing as it appears to me this company needs a transfusion.
A very large majority of the people that attended have lived on the mountain for at least 10 years. Half of the attending group have lived on the mountain for upwards of 20 years.
A majority of the time spent in the meeting was a quibbling session between Ron and a share holder. This squabble was over whether or not there was an embezzlement that took place with a prior CPPW board member. Even though the current board admitted that $90,000 has come up missing-with $60,000 recovered-the board insists there was no crime committed.
"The embezzlement has never been proven so you can’t say that it ever even happened Sheryl."
The reasoning was this:
Nobody has been proven or convicted therefore no crime has been committed? Sounds easy I guess. However, we all know that many crimes are committed without convictions. And something here is definitely awry.

The share holders seemed more like a lynch mob than they did share holders. When I left I expected them to light some torches, climb onto their horses and ride off into the forest.
There is always a reason for such animosity. The water company wants to raise the rates and the share holders feel that they are buying dinners for someone, but they don't know who that is. The lynch mob is fed up with the ghost rider dinning at their expense and they want somebody to be accountable. The board says that they are making progress toward their goal but it will take some more time.
“How much more time?” asked one of the posse.
“We don’t know.” stated the board.
The company has had to hire outside help to get their computer software in order and an accountant; more added expenses.
As far as the missing funds go there was $90,000 missing and $60,000 recovered from the past, that leaves a difference of $30,000 floating around somewhere. Consequently, a malfeasance exists as long as share holder money can’t be accounted for. I think that was the only thing that the board and the share holders agreed on all night. The wounds are deep and the healing must begin soon. At some time, hopefully soon, the company must move forward as opposed to floundering in old slop.

I will be at the next meeting and I hope that I see some new share holders attend. Your company truly needs your help.

To clarify one of the comments recounted above: The reference to the $90,000 was unpaid receivables from shareholders. $60,000 was successfully collected and approximately $30,000 representing losses accumulated over many years are still being worked to determine if any of it is collectable.

It sounds like the mob was angry last night. I hope they kept the pitch forks and torches outside of the building.

Thanks Ron, this is why we wish not to have volunteers sitting in on meetings and repeating back to the shareholders. Honest mistake cpp123, thanks for your other input

Thanks for that clarification. I did not know you and the board member were on in the same. Interesting. I should have put 2 and 2 together and figured that out myself. I'm slipping.

no, I am sorry Cpp123, I was referring to the suggestion that a shareholder sit in on the executive session and report back to the shareholder... I hope I said THAT right!
I support you cpp123! I am very upset at Ron myself!

Maybe they should buy a copy of Quickbooks instead and donate to the water co.

So easy a caveman could do it.

This is not Rim of the World Ron!" It is CPPW!

Well lets see 1. Getting rid of the Board of Good ol Boys is number 1.
2. Getting a board from the community is whats needed here people that would know whats going on day to day in their company.
3. We don't need Crestline village or any other water company to take us over we can take care of this water company with many qualified licensed members of this community right here on the mountain.
4. Volunteers don't get paid but RonCpp and every member of the board gets paid $50 dollars every time they get together to discuss water.
5. There is no greater time than now to start getting all proxies filled out and get this company back on track the good ol boys need flushed once and for all !

We have serious problems at this water company. Transparency is nice but
our problems go way beyond that. No one can tell me a new board of volunteers
will have the expertise or vision to bring us out of the absolute mess we are in now.

They might be able to run the day to day but there is no way I would trust
another set of well intending people with little or no water experience to
handle this company. We have been putting up with this wishful thinking for way
too long.

I sat in at the water meeting last night. I did not hear or see one person that
would know how to handle the problems we have or see twenty years down the road
on what is needed to serve this community. No one!

With the financial trouble we are in, the only way to continue to run this
company on our own is to raise the rates through the roof. Why? so we can say
we own a private water company? What's the point?

That's why we are in the mess we are in now wishful thinking just like this. There are qualified licensed professionals right here on the mountain that can do the same job as any other water company. That knows what the job is and how to do it as negitive as RonCpp ody"

The single biggest concern that I think you should have is that if there is even a hint of a problem, the good ole boys at the county will destroy what you have and take over. All legal and proper, but you guys will get screwed like you can't believe. Ask anyone in Cedar Glen.
