Let's see....um.....1.) a bear shot by an arrow, 2.) actually it was misspelled, it should read Aerobear, for a flying bear seen flying over the Music Camp, 3.) Since the area is roughly half way between Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear Lake, let's call it Arrowbear! (Well, 10 miles to Arrowhead, and 12 miles to the Big Bear dam....) Any other notions, ideas, prognostications? ( is that a word?...)

Although the geographic nomenclature seems the most likely... I was willing to entertain the idea that we are named after a rather large variety of our San Bernardino Mountain Flying Squirrel.

Ok, I know this is an old discussion, but I was on here killing a little time.

A long time ago I had a theory on this exact subject. If, in fact Arrowbear was named for it's geographical location between Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear, then Running Springs should rightfully be called "Big Head".

Although, I do think I saw the flying bear one late night while walking home from The Elk.....or maybe that was just a pink elephant....hehehe!

It is named after the two areas, being "roughly" in between. But it needs it's own identity, not draw from two others. So the name should properly be changed to........you all know this is coming.........................................Deer Lick!!! Let's hear it for Deer Lick!!!
