Bella seems to be the neighborhoods dog. She's always out and about. She also has a nasty looking cyst or tumor on her right side near her ribcage. It has nothing to do with her belly-button as the owner once claimed. But I wish it would get examined by a vet.

Looks like Bella is out on another adventure. She came up to us as we were out front. I called and left msg on the phone number but no response yet. She is have a great time with my other 3 but I know she wants to go home. If anyone knows her parents, please have them check their voice mail. She also needs a better id tag than this worn out akc one

Do you know if her owners really care about her? It doesn't sound like they do. It is very dangerous for her to be running around like this and it sounds like she needs to be seen by a vet. At least she has all of you guys looking out for her.

I have thought about that too! She really is a good natured dog and just loved playing with my 3 whe she was not trying to sit on my lap. Maybe she is not getting the attention/excercise she craves/needs. She is a jumper but still a pup. It takes labs a little longer to mature (I have had a few in my day and loved them). I think she just needs some proper training. I trained my lab Joshua to stay even when the front door was left wide open. He would not move even when called to unless he was given the right "phrase" command. I do believe she needs a better id tag than the worn out akc one she was wearing. If I hadn't have seen this thread before, I would have never known who her owners are.

Jimmy, its like an outie belly button. Its called an umbilical hernia. Its nothing to worry about, I thought the same thing when we first saw her. Her Mom had it too. She see's a vet and he seems to think that it fine. If you'd like we can go vist her vet together. I just would like to thank everyone for looking out for Bella, we've consulted our vet and he advised us to have her spayed, he thinks that will clear up her running about town. But again I'd like to thank everyone for being so great and calling us when she gets out.

Jesse, we do care deeply about our dog. She is a wild one though. She will jump off our second story balcony to run and play when we are not home. I also have a son who is 4 with Autism and he's a smart little guy and can work any lock. He likes to go outside and play in the yard and Bella follows him, well when e comes inside he often forget to bring Bella in with him. I asure you we love our dog, she just like to roam the block. Oh and as for the vet comment see my last post its an umbilical hernia. Painless for her!!!!!

Im sure you do care about her and I know you have your hands full with your son, but it seems that she is getting out a lot. One of these times she might not be so lucky. There are cars, coyotes, etc. that could kill her. And yes, she should definitely get spayed so she doesn't have puppies of her own. Please don't take my comments the wrong way. I have just seen too many animals get hurt. If you need help getting her spayed you can contact the Mountains Humane Society at 337-6422 and they can give you a phone number to Popco (they will give you a $50 certificate for spaying) and the MHS will help also. Is there any way you can leave Bella inside while you are gone? She sounds like a very playful puppy.

Bella is an akc registered lab. She was given to us by my parents who have shown dogs for many years. They wanted to find a male to mate her with so she could have puppies but my husband and I decided we had enough on our plates and we did not want to go in that direction. We just go the popco cert. in the mail on Monday and have made an appt. with her vet. Leaving her inside is not an option. We have single pain windows and when Bella wants out she will jump on the couches and scratch and scratch and she has broken a window before. So rather then worry about that we put her on our second story balcony. Its not often she is alone. She just likes to roam, she's very social. My parents complain about her Mom doing the same thing. I don't have the heart to chain her up outside. She gets all tangled up and I worry she might choke herself. I understand the cause for concern but Bella is a spoiled rotten dog. As we speak shes laying on my bed taking up most of the heating blanket.

I think that's great you are getting her spayed. There are enough dogs needing homes. But I do suggest you get her a better id tag. Wallmart in Redlands has the machine that makes them for 4.00 which is a lot cheaper than Petco or Petsmart. You also might want to get her licensed once you have her spayed. Animal control has been making a lot of rounds up here lately and citing people if they don't have their dog licensed.
