Just a heads up to anyone out on Sunday nights. Two weeks in a row I've been out running with my dogs and been surprised by our local bear. I guess I should know better than to run on trash night, but tonight was a little scary. He jumped out at us and growled.
10 years of running these hills and no bears until now!
Guess it's the treadmill on Sundays.
Be careful out there, guys...

saturday night, or maybe friday night? He/she (the bear) made a treat out of my trash can! Ate all my leftover mac 'n cheese from the golden grill, which was good but too "soupy" for my taste....

That's ok, I still prefer a bear to gang members with guns. At least here I can run at night. However...shouldn't they be hibernating soon?

It's true. About three weeks ago we were coming home late at night, (had heard about a bear sighting a few days before,) and drove up Fir Dr. Halfway up the road I spotted hi/her eyes looking at me but the bear lumbered off the side of the road. We drove around a second time
and there it was again in the middle of the st. Once again it moved off to the side. This time we stopped and had a staring contest. The bear is big. But beautiful with white hair on its upper chest. We carry a big flashlight now when we go out for walks after dinner.
The bear also has rifled thru our trash twice and bent our aluminum trash can. Strong bear.

I read the bears up here don't really hibernate, but they do get less active in the winter. Well...so do I

Midway between ARROW-head and Big-BEAR...you will find ARROWBEAR!
BTW...My Dad had an old (can't remember the year but it the curved glass corners in the back window)Chevy pickup that he painted a Pair-o-Dice on the doors. It was most often parked at our place in Arrowbear.
