Morning all,

I've got a question about Verizon service. This morning my lines one and two are not working. I hear nothing when I turn on the phones, yet my Verizon DSL (which is connected to line one) is working fine. All handsets are present and accounted for and on their cradles. Does this make sense to anyone?

Don't know if this will help your situation, but I did have a similar problem and after testing all the lines with a phone with a cord, also checking the test box outside the house where the lines come in, it was determined there was a dial tone at the test box, but not in the house. After begging a security system friend to bring over his line tester, we tracked down a faulty Directv Box that was trying to "phone home" to the mother satelite, leaving an "open line" sound. Unplugged the box, problem solved.

I had the SAME experance. My DSL was working but not my Phone line.. I when and checked my NIC( the Box outside) same thing no Dial tone. Called Verizon and thay seen someone out.. (BTW CALL Do not do it online it will happen faster). What the Verizon Tech told me was that there Line Going to my house was Chewed Thru but just enouph from my DSL to work but not my phone.. They Swaped lines and it started to work...

Yep, I went to my brother's house and called Verizon and they're sending someone out tomorrow. But Verizon says DSL runs on a different frequency than the regular phone service so that's why it works but not the phone. Anyway, you're probably right. I bet one of my dogs chewed through a wire.

Turns out that there was something wrong with a main cable connecting Verizon to our STREET. Go figure. They worked on it late last night and, I think, part of the wee smas of the morning. So all is better today.

Thanks for your input everyone. I felt a lotless frustrated knowing I wasn't the first person this has happened to.
